Resumen:
In this study we approach the complex topic of the endocannabinoid system and the relationship in animals without focusing on any component of the same or a specific species, knowing that we already find greater interest in the use of these compounds in veterinary medicine and its therapeutic use. Also we briefly mention the properties of cannabinoids, their mechanisms of action, the role of cannabinoid receptors and their classification.
Finally we describe the main pharmacological effects of some cannabinoids and analyze the proactive use in animal species (ferrets, cats, dogs, monkeys) that have been reported in the scientific literature.
The objective of this work is to provide a brief, concise and understandable prospective description of the endocannabinoid system in domestic animals, and the potential use of cannabinoids in veterinary medicine.
