"DE VERAS", EVOLUCIÓN DE SU SIGNIFICADO TRAS UN PROCESO DE LEXICALIZACIÓN DE LA LENGUA ESPAÑOLA

Abstract

The speakers of the Spanish language stop using some words, changing them to others that, by economy of the language or modernization, keeps the same meaning regardless of the morphology or phonetics of the same. But over time, the meaning of words changes according to the use that is given, the frequency of that use is increased causing the new meaning to remove the previous one, or maintain the same, identifying the meaning used by the context. In this study, an investigation was carried out on the process of lexicalization by the locution "de veras" came from the adverb "truth" that denotes certainty in something, which also came to represent doubt according to the REAL SPANISH ACADEMY: Data bank (CORDE and CREA) online. We will investigate the difference between the process of grammaticalization and lexicalization to define the process by the phrase "de veras" passes. To analyze the results, it is necessary to obtain an array of meanings from 1530 to 2005 of the diachronic corpus of Spanish and the corpus of reference of the real Spanish.
