Resumen:
This work aims at giving some useful ideas about the way we, as teachers, can help
our students to enhance their listening comprehension. We have seen how difficult
is, for the listeners, to understand the content of an audio, video or the message
given by the teacher in the speaking way.
This problem is mainly due to the wrong planning of a listening activity. It is not
necessary to spend a lot of time in this kind of school tasks, but to design one, which
motivates the students to keep learning this ability on their own.
It was basically the problem we noticed in the public school, in which we found that
most of the students are not motivated to accomplish the activity, because of the
lack of real application of the English language in this expertise.
The proposed activities here presented are designed for young-adult college
students, with basic English level. These activities can be included in a lesson
planning and, in addition, to complement with other language skill. Some of them do
not need the use of a recorded audio, and those that need it, can be carry out utilizing
the audio scripts, included at the end of this work.
The English teacher, who decides to employ any of the listening comprehension
activities here presented, can modify them according to the needs, talking about the
corresponding vocabulary or grammar topics. Is a real desire of the author of this
work to contribute, with some specific listening activities, to the development of this
difficult ability for the English Language Learners. At the same time, to give more
ideas for this kind of activities and trigger the use of more teaching strategies.
